Back to School

Do other homeschoolers ever wish, for just one day, they could send their kids to school? I think this is probably taboo to talk about. The rest of the world views us as radical and perfect. “I could never teach my own children. You’re a saint.” Yeah, right. Homeschooling is a viable and exciting adventure. It is also exhausting, frustrating and never-ending. I think just for one day it would be cool to send them off to school, so all of us could see homeschooling through different eyes and a new perspective. We’ve already started school this week and it’s been a roller coaster. Trying to get back into a routine and find some excitement somewhere. M and S are studying the human body for science. (Haven’t done much science with them, partly because I hate it and partly because I’m praying they can get the basics down first.) But I outlined their bodies on kraft paper and hung them on our bulletin board. They will study each part of the body and color and cut out the picture to go on their drawing. If nothing else, it makes a cute scrapbook picture!

I don’t really want to send them off to school. But I will admit a day with no one in the house but me might prove delightful. Or it might be lonely. I guess I won’t know for a few more years 🙂

I homeschool my kids and LOVE it, but yes, there are days when I find myself thinking what if. . .they went to school every morning and I had some quiet time. It’s normal, I think, to sometimes reach that point. We are human, after all.
