My “Friend”

Do you have something that you hold onto

or something that holds you back?

My “friend” is financial worry.
We didn’t have much growing up.
We didn’t starve but there wasn’t a lot of extra.

As adults, my husband and I have never lacked for the important things:
food, home, transportation, clothes.
There just isn’t a lot of extra.

We have sacrificed (by the world’s standards) for me to stay home with the kids.
We have accrued debt which didn’t come from frivolous desires
but from providing the basics.

I know God is in control.
But fear and worry overwhelm at times.
College is approaching. A future wedding.

I hate this about myself.
At least I’m honest.
This “friend” and I will probably do battle for a lifetime.

Who is your “friend?”

  1. I wrote a post on my blog in response. Thanks for this today – I was in the midst of seething after blowing up at my family and it helped me realize that I’m not really angry at them at all. Anxiety and worry can do weird things to us.

My friend is “health”. I am getting really tired of the battle. I have been fighting it all my life. It is just that as I get older, the harder the battle is.
