Stick Poke

Yes, I went to Orlando this weekend. Had a wonderful, amazing time but that’s for another post.

And yes, my kids are stick poking me today. My son can’t figure out how to ring the doorbell to come inside and my daughter is acting dumb (or is shut down which means she really can NOT think).

Ah, the ways to let mom know leaving was not a cool thing to do.

I did have a conversation with some women this weekend about how many times crisis situations are easier to deal with than the constant stick poking. The incessant reminder that I left, regardless of whether I came home.

It’s like having poison ivy with a constant itch. You can ignore it. You can treat it, but it’s still there, begging the healing to come NOW.

I’m in the itching mode. How about you?

  1. Hugs to you sister. I have read so many posts about happy homecomings. Although I feel wonderful for them I am secretly jealous. My homecoming has been rough. Thank you so much for sharing this. I have been told over and over again I am not alone…your post just confirmed that!

  2. I got a screaming/crying/hysterical call on my drive home from Orlando from my daughter because, “Dad won’t even buy an ice cream cone!” Fun stuff.

  3. Stick poking here too. Nothing too crazy. Nothing insane. Actually a million times better than I thought it would be because I expected MAJOR INSANITY. But there has been constant stick poking. With little tiny sticks. Like toothpicks. Almost like, “please, mom, notice- I am here and I was MAD!”

  4. My son has been one big manic mess!!!! I miss you!
