Blessings

Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by the pain in this world. A friend from high school has suffered from bladder cancer and her husband has stage 4 melanoma in his lungs. Another friend’s husband was unfaithful and the whole family has been devastated. A member of our church committed suicide and left behind a wife and 2 kids. Many, many trauma mamas are facing Residential Treatment Facilities for their kids and torn up families left behind. Weary, heartbroken and ready to give up. None of us go through this life unscathed. I cling to the belief that it’s the faithfulness to the journey that counts the most. Somewhere within all the pain is a life worth living, one step at a time. It certainly may not look like the life I envisioned but it is MY life.

Please take the time to listen to this song. I heard it for the first time yesterday and as always, the music and words reached to my very core. I don’t think it was a coincidence that I’ve seen it posted on several blogs lately. I hope it ministers to you in your time of need.

Lyrics:
We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things
‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
As long as we have faith to believe
When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise
