 Victory in Jesus from Marty's Musings

I heard this version of Victory in Jesus for the first time at Beth Moore Living Proof here in Greensboro NC.

Victory in Jesus from Marty's Musings-2

It’s an old, old hymn with a terrific new sound by Travis Cottrell.

As always, I wish you a blessed Sunday  filled with family and rest!

I heard an old, old story,

How a Savior came from glory,

How He gave His life on Calvary

To save a wretch like me;

I heard about His groaning,

Of His precious blood’s atoning,

Then I repented of my sins

And won the victory.
O victory in Jesus,My Savior, forever.

He sought me and bought me

With His redeeming blood;

He loved me ere I knew Him

And all my love is due Him,

He plunged me to victory,

Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing,

Of His cleansing pow’r revealing.

How He made the lame to walk again

And caused the blind to see;

And then I cried, “Dear Jesus,

Come and heal my broken spirit,”

And somehow Jesus came and bro’t

To me the victory.

I heard about a mansion

He has built for me in glory.

And I heard about the streets of gold

Beyond the crystal sea;

About the angels singing,

And the old redemption story,

And some sweet day

I’ll sing up there

The song of victory.

  1. Great rendition of “Victory in Jesus” isn’t it? I don’t remember if it was our church praise team of someone else I heard do the “now” version, but I sure like it. I got to your post today fresh off listening to Casting Crowns. Awesome time of worship. Thanks.

    • Hi, Janet. Thanks so much for visiting my Simple Gift Sunday post. I’m glad you love this new Victory in Jesus version, too! I loved it when I heard it at the Beth Moore conference recently. Have a blessed day!

  2. Lovely images and thoughts/music. Thanks : )

  3. {Melinda} I remember singing this as a little girl in my home church. It’s such an oldie, but so beautiful, with such a message of Truth! 🙂

  4. Ah … those were the days, singing this old old hymn way back in the day … a real Sunday evening service staple. God’s truths never change, even though the packaging might get adjusted! Thanks, Marty, for the always truthful reminder of His faithfulness!

  5. I love the words to this song, Marty. Thanks so much for sharing them, the video and the amazing photos your son took. He is quite the photographer! I suppose those are flowers from your garden, though. So maybe some of the credit should go to you too. 🙂 Thanks so much for linking this up with Wedded Wed, my friend!

  6. Very lovely photos and thoughts!
