Thrifty Mason Jar Crafts and Video

Our son Joshua is a junior at the College at Southeastern (the undergrad program for Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary) majoring in Christian studies with a minor in music. His first semester of college he met and began dating his now fiance Emmaline. They were the first boyfriend and girlfriend for each other and are just about the cutest couple I’ve ever seen.

Joshua and Emmaline

She is demure and soft spoken (totally opposite of our crazy, loud game-loving family) but is perfect for him. He treats her with such respect and protects her with a passion.

Several weeks ago he came home for a brief couple of hours when he picked up the engagement ring (paid for with his hard earned cash.) He told us of his plans for the proposal, and, of course, being the crafty mom I am, I asked if I could help.

He had a friend who could get him a roll of burlap free so I went with the burlap theme. We settled on the color red and I had a roll of red velvet ribbon that I sent back to school with him.

Mason Jar Craft: Proposal

You can see the thrifty mason jars I made, but there are no pictures with them lit and him proposing, unfortunately.

Of course, she said yes!

Then he brought the jars home just a few days later so I could throw my husband a surprise college graduation party!

My DIY hubby graduated magna cum laude from Liberty University with a BS in Religion, and I an so proud of his accomplishment!

So back to the mason jar crafts…..

These jars started life as a pasta or salsa jar.

After I cleaned off the labels I began by raiding my craft room collection of ribbons and embellishments.

Congrats to hubby on graduation…this is the 4th time this week that Liberty University has come up in my life….I am very interested in having my girls look there for school! oh..and love the mason jars! Great re-purposing!-hugs Aimee

    1. Aimee, you’re so sweet to comment. Tim went back to school to finish his undergrad so he took 60 hours of online classes from Liberty. Long story short, they discontinued his degree and he almost didn’t finish it. Praise God he did, and I”m so proud of him.

  2. Such a sweet story and a cute couple. Congratulations! It is just the beginning of a wonderful life together and family fun.
