Colton Dixon Let Them See You video and devotion

I have been writing my Simple Gift column since July 2012. It began as a way to work on my photography and then morphed into sharing a worship video each week.

This year I have been trying to go back to sharing more of my personal journey as a mom and woman of faith.

Yet I’m at a crossroads. I want to make sure that the time I invest each week in writing and editing this series is time well spent. I hope and pray that my words  will encourage you and help you find hope even in difficult times.

I’d really love to know if you actually read these posts or have in some way been encouraged by them. Do you enjoy the worship videos or skip on past them?

I would be so grateful to just know that I’m on the right track. If you haven’t ever commented I’d love if you’d take a moment and just say you’re reading! Bloggers live for comments!

Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy this live acoustic performance by Colton Dixon “Let Them See You” a song with a great message.

Take away the melodies
Take away the songs I sing
Take away all the lights
And all the songs
You let me write
Does the man I am today
Say the words You need to say
Let them see You
In me
Let them hear You
When I speak
Let them feel You
When I sing
Let them see You
Let them see You
In me
Who am I without Your grace
Another smile, another face
Another breath, a grain of sand
Passing quickly through Your hand
I’d give my life, an offering
Take it all, take everything
With every breath I breathe
I sing a simple melody
But I pray they’ll hear more than a song
In me, in me

  1. Hi Marty,
I am not a blogger, just a reader/follower and yes, I do very much enjoy your Simple Gift Sundays (for that matter, I enjoy all of your blogs!!). Most of the time I save the post and go back later in the morning to listen to the featured song. That is because I am an early riser and my routine is to get my coffee, come back to bed with the laptop and read my emails and the blogs I subscribe too. My “Dude” is still sleeping (snoring) next to me so rather than wake him with lovely music, I let him sleep and go back to the videos after he’s up and about ;0)
Your blogs are wonderful and these Simple Gift Sundays will, many times, strike a chord and really hit home when I need it the most. Thanks!

    • Thank you so much, Jane, for taking the time to comment! The internet world can be an isolating place because you never know who is reading or how they are interpreting your words. My goal is to honor God and encourage others with words that inspire and uplift. I’m so glad that you read my posts! Have a blessed Sunday!

  2. Hi Marty
First, I want to apologize for not commenting before . God has spoken to me often through reading your posts and I ALWAYS read, and listen to your Simple Sunday posts. As I am the sole believer in my family, I don’t always make it out to church, and your posts a nd set ing to the worship can often be a deeply meaningful part of my Sunday 🙂
May He continue to speak through you

    • Hi Marty, I follow your blog and really enjoy your family stories and journey of faith.
I have been blessed by your writings, the Simple Sunday posts and enjoy the video and music you share
Thank you for sharing your life with us, your readers.
      God Bless You,

      • Hi, Dee. Thank you so much for following along with our family’s story. I really struggle with how much to share now that my kids are teenagers and older. Our story is a powerful one of a life-changing God but it is not without its struggles and heartbreak. I’m so glad that I could be a part of your faith journey as well. Blessings!

    • Thank you so much, Linda, for the encouragement! I know you must struggle with being the only believer in your family, but I know God can change hearts as you minister in that way. I love music and am glad that it helps lead you in worship. Have a blessed Sunday!

  3. rebekah says:

Hello! I read your blog sometimes and have enjoyed your speaking out about the Lord and what’s going on in your family’s life in relation to Him and His work. I would like to continue to enjoy reading about another woman’s journey of faith if you continue blogging about it! 🙂 Take care!

    • I will continue to write, Rebekah, sometimes weeks more than others, as I share our family adoption story and the way God has changed us and molded us. Thank you so much for reading!

  4. Charlotte Snodgrass says:

Marty, I so love your blog! As for Simple Gift Sunday, well I like it all. I want to hear what God has put on your heart, whether it be a video or your beautiful pictures! God bless!

  5. Cindy Graves says:

Nice blog Marty. I really appreciate your honesty and transparency. I have many of your same interests, homeschooled for 28 years, have an estranged adult daughter and like you understand both the incredible joy of God’s amazing sufficiency and the deep anguish of grief. Keep up the good work and thanks for keeping it real!

    • Cindy, what a testimony you must have after 28 years of homeschooling! I’m nearing the end which is both bittersweet and amazing! I’m so sorry about your daughter. I know that grief and am so glad you know the source of your strength. Some heartbreaks only the Lord knows and understands. Thank you for taking the time to comment today. Blessings to you.

  6. I read it, listen to it, and wallow in your photos. 🙂 tomorrow I think I’ll try your slow cooker Chicken and Rice Soup. I was at a Crossroads a few months back, too. it’s a battle.
Pursuing happiness amid the confusion, trials, and mixed messages of society.
Priorities. Personalities. and remembering Whose in charge and Whose I am and that the battle is not mine, after all. God bless. Keep being you. you’re the only one we have.

  7. I enjoy your Sunday post!

    God Bless!

  8. Hi Marty,
Many weeks I enjoy your inserted videos. Some weeks I just lack opportunity. Always appreciated are your writings on faith in the One who really matters.

  9. I just read your blog for the first time, and signed up to receive it via email. I think you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, and it’s great to read a blog that isn’t by someone with a huge fabulous house, but a realistic home. Keep up the good work. And go in and read your daughters wall when you wonder…

    • Thank you so much for encouraging me, Ann. I struggle with priorities and determining God’s will and your comment was just the word I needed to hear today. Thank you for taking the time to minister to me! Have a blessed week!
