How to Create Your Own Unit Study

Create Your Own Unit Study from Marty's Musings

How to create your own unit study, that is the question! As a homeschooling mom of 19 years I've put together many different studies on varied topics through the years. I thought I'd share a little bit about the process I use. One of the most fun things we do at least once a year is a unit study night. Usually it correlates with our history or … [Read more...]

Scrapbooking with Project Life

I Love Project Life from Marty's Musings

I am terribly behind in my Project Life memory keeping this year. Although I'm fairly up to date with getting my pictures edited and developed, I have not gotten them in the album. I also have much of the memorabilia together so it's a matter of choosing the page sizes and orientation, printing off some blog journaling, and I'll be on my way to … [Read more...]

Project Life June 2012 Week 5

Project Life June 2012 Week 5

This is my last Project Life June layout. I don't worry about being caught up so much anymore. (And actually I'm pretty caught up. I'm just blogging a month behind.) Since I'm doing more of a weekly/theme layout I am tending to do layouts a month at a time.   I may spend some time pulling together journaling, and of course, having my pictures … [Read more...]

Simple as That July 29, 2012

When I got a new camera at the first of the year one of my hopes was to take better pictures inside our home. Having recently taken my camera off automatic (yes, it took me six months to work up the courage) I'm still learning. Especially when my family is active and I'm trying to capture a moment without them making faces or hiding from me (no one … [Read more...]

She has a great eye and is committed to learning about all the latest techniques and information available. (You might also see a couple of pics of me on her website … [Read more...]

For those of you who may wonder why I share my scrapbook pages each week, go read my Project Life philosophy and how I'm incorporating it into my albums this year. I was burned out earlier in the year with the picture a day idea since I've done that for three years now. Changing it up by focusing more on themes or events has helped renew my love … [Read more...]

Deal of the Week

Marty's Musings: Deal of the Week

Yardsaling on Saturday sure was fun! Joshua's girlfriend spent the night with us so she could be in town to go early the next morning with us. She's a newbie but we inducted her into our family yard sale adventures. Rachel came in from Lexington and S went with us as well. It was not the best week as far as having lots of sales in close proximity … [Read more...]

{Count Your} Blessing Jar

Family Tradition: The blesing jar is a daily reminder of God's blessings, written on scraps of paper throughout the year and opened on Thanksgiving evening together as a family.

Our  Blessing Jar is a family tradition that goes back to 1999. At that time we just had two children and couldn't possibly have even imagined the changes the next few years would bring, with both joys and trials. Our favorite family tradition occurs on Thanksgiving Day. We have lunch at our house for our family (our kids, my niece … [Read more...]

Project Life May 2012

Project Life May 1

For this month in May I used a standard Project Life page protector and one that allowed both portrait and landscape pictures. Very simple layout but I love it. The left page and two pictures on the right are of some of our animals: our black lab Amy, our boxer Annabelle, our cat Callie (the wet freak on the left) and our newest family … [Read more...]
