It’s been a somewhat rough winter in NC. A big snow (for us) and a recent ice storm left many without power for days.

I’ve had enough of this dreariness.

Today I’m so happy to be joining my friend Amy at Atta Girl Says and Kelly from My Soulful Home to bring you a touch of spring with our Swing Into Spring recipes.

To me, chocolate never goes out of season.

And Oreos? Yes, please.

For this recipe, I changed it up just a bit from the traditional chocolate pudding and served it up all ladylike for the pictures.

Oreo Dirt Cake is a favorite request at our house for birthdays, holidays and any time I we have a chocolate craving!

The size package of cookies depends on how much you love Oreos! Use less or more than called for according to taste.

  1. Hello, i think that i saw you visited my web site
so i came to “return the favor”.I am attempting to find things to ehance my web site!I suppose
its ok to use a few of your ideas!!

  2. Love Dirt Cake! Made some last weekend for my DIL’s baby shower. The theme was Boys Will Be Boys and we decorated with all things BOY. On the food table, we used large Tonka trucks as serving dishes! We piled the Dirt Cake on a silicon mat and pushed a toy bulldozer up against it. Looked just like a big pile of dirt being moved. I use plain old store brand cookies instead of Oreos and it tastes the same.

      1. Goodness, Beverly, that’s a great way to get your sweet and salty at the same time! I love the details of your boy shower. I’m sure it was absolutely adorable!

  3. I forgot to tell you I made this several weekends ago and the kids and Bill (ok I may have had seconds and thirds) went crazy for this dessert. So now it is a family favorite of ours, too. Thanks for hosting the Recipe Event and for sharing your fabulous recipe again. Besides, we can’t all eat healthy all the time. LOL xxoo, barb

  4. Ladylike, down and dirty, straight out of the pan — I’ll take Oreo dirt cake any way you want to serve it to me. Hint, hint. Actually, not really. I don’t need it. But I sure want it!

  5. This is a favorite recipe at church functions! The children would clear it out right away! So delighted to join you all this week – so excited that it’s almost Spring! I appreciate you hosting,
    Kathy

  6. Hi Marty, We had freezing rain yesterday in our neck of the woods. I feel so badly for those in the NE with more snow. Hooray for chocolate, the ultimate comfort food! 🙂

    1. Hi, Mary. The freezing rain is awful, isn’t it? So much harder than the snow. We homeschool so my kids don’t really get a snow day unless there’s actually snow!

  7. Thank you for hosting, Marty. I adore Oreo Dirt Cake and have been making it for many years. I’ll never forget the first time that I tasted it and how amazed I was at its yumminess! I never thought about making it with chocolate pudding instead of vanilla though – great idea when you really, really need a chocolate fix!
