Disclosure: I was provided product by BEHR to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Some of the best bargains come from yard sales and this $4 side table was perfect for a makeover using Behr paint. Tips and instructions included.

(Don’t miss the giveaway at the end of this post!)

Y’all know I love yard sales. But did you know there are phone apps to help you map out the sales in your area?

They have changed my life.

The one I use (Yard Sale Treasure Map) lifts the ads from craigslist and even allows you to sync your route. I use the app to make my list every Friday night because I know my city so well and the neighborhoods with the best bargains!

This is way better than the olden days where I scoured the newspaper classifieds and used that old fashioned thing called a map!

Why do I love yard sales so much? Because you never know what you might find that you didn’t know you needed!

A few weeks ago I bought this small side table for $4 and decided it had to come home with me. I knew the perfect spot for it.

Of course, it had to be painted first, like most everything else in my home!

Our group of Behr bloggers was challenged to use one of the new 2016 color trends so I chose Ivory Keys T16-17.

I persuaded my handyman/painting contractor hubby to do the job for me and he first used Zinser 1-2-3 aerosol spray primer to cover the side table.

Here’s the finished project after one coat of the Behr paint. Can you believe it only took one coat?

We also decided to paint over the hardware and the entire inside of the cabinet.

Here’s the side table in its new home next to my family gallery wall in our den.

We spend a lot of time in this room and the table fits in perfectly to provide a nook for a light and some reading material.

I love the touch of detailing on my yard sale treasure and the Ivory Keys color is a great white/neutral without being shockingly white.

Now that fall is coming I’m ready to cuddle up in my recliner with my cozy throw and a good book!

I love Behr paint and almost always use it for all of my painting. One of my favorite colors is Behr Black Suede.

Thanks, Robin. I loved the Ivory Keys color. It was a fresh white, not too ultra white and no yellow undertones. Loved your table and chairs makeover, too!

I love your gallery wall. Where do you get the inspirational vinyl words that you used between the family photos?

Hi, Esther. The vinyl words were actually made with my dieting machine. You can see all the details on how I put the wall together here: https://www.martysmusings.net/2012/03/how-to-make-a-gallery-wall.html Thanks for visiting!

Looks great! I love finding things at garage sales too. It’s always fun to say, ‘Hey look what I did with that piece I got for $4!”

Hi, Pamela. Even more than garage sales I love finding things on the street that others have thrown away and fixing them up for free! Sometimes folks don’t know what treasures they have! Thanks for visiting my blog!

I love Behr! I was in a hurry and purchased another brand to paint a small ceiling (the store didn’t carry Behr)… never again! Nothing like Behr paint, I learned my lesson. Thanks for linking up to Home Matters Party, pinning! #HomeMattersParty http://cu-rio.net/home-matters-linky-party-57/
